Consumer Study amid Inflation
About the study
During a period when inflation exceeded 70%, this study measures the impact of successive price increases on public mood, access to basic necessities and outlook on the future; it also reveals an erosion of perceived socioeconomic class. It was published in June 2022.
Key findings
- Society is far from happy: 13.4% describe their general mood as good or very good, and 33.6% as neither good nor bad; those describing it as bad or very bad account for 57.4% of people aged 18–34, 51.8% of those aged 35–54 and 49.3% of those over 55.
- Price increases most often make people feel bad (8.7%); fear (7.9%) and anxiety (7.6%) are other prominent emotions.
- Only 3% say they can meet all their basic needs; 13.8% can comfortably meet most or all of them. Those expecting improvement in the future are in the minority.
